    Question:
I had a hus. 51 chainsaw for a long time and it was used A LOT! It finally went and I'm wondering what model is alike as far as power and dependability.

      Jack,

I believe the Model 51, was around 51 CC engine, a Model 455 is about 56 CC so its fairly close, and I really love the model 455, they run with one or two start pulls, and you can easily put a 20" bar on it. They are also very easy to work on, and I have done complete re-builds, and have several Model 455 chainsaws. Of course I also like my Model 545 Autotune and its about the same or a little less CC's then the Model 51 but I'll bet it cuts like your Old model 51, also much lighter than the Model 455. They also have a Model 550 which may even be closer to your Model 51.

Anyhow, I guess If I had ot choose between my Model 455 rancher, and Model 545, I would go with the Model 545.

      I hope this helps,

      Karla

Thank You for your comments.  Re the HEAVY oil leaking of the 455 Rancher, is it really as simple as unscrewing the cap after each use?  It seems like a waste and a mess to empty the tank each time as some have said to do. Thanks

Don't have any idea who might give me the factory presets for the 51 rancher my 98 was the victim of vandalism, revenge or gas-lighting I don't care which. I just need to reset the carb so I can then adjust it I am a generator mechanic out of the US Army.
