    Question:
I have a Hisqvarna 128LD trimmer. It starts easily and will idle, but dies when it is throttled up. Have had it in for service and they can't seem to fix it. Any suggestions?

You need to carry to service center that has a confident 2 cycle tech. This is normally a carburetor problem but are few other things that can cause this. This can be as a fuel mixture adjustment by a knowledgeable tech.

Although 2 cycles are a fairly simple it can be rather involve when comes to repairs. It took me several years to learn these machines. Even now there are still problems that can drive me nutty.

I do not represent Husqvarna just an independent repair shop owner and chief tech.

Took it in to a repair facility. They charged me $50 to tell me that they could not figure it out. Rather frustrated, as this is the 2nd Husqvarna trimmer I have owned with the same problem.

I was looking over the IPL...On the muffler there is a spark arrestor that can clog. Have you cleaned it? It can cause the problem your describing.

To clean it you need to remove the muffler shield/cover. Then there four screw holding the spark arrestor cover on that will need removing. Underneath this cover is a wire screen that can clog with carbon. Depending how hard the carbon is a good stiff brush may clean it or may need to be heated and then brushed off.

I had the same issues with my 128LD also. After reading all the information about how to try to fix it this is how I fixed it. I put all new gas lines and filter and a new carberator. None of that fixed it. I put a cy6y spark plug in it and opened up the gap to 0.45 and it has ran great every since. I have try the correct plug and open the gap on it and it would not help. Try using a CJ6Y it will make all the differents.
