    Question:
    450 CHAIN OIL LEAK
My 450 leaks out all it's chain oil when stored. I saw a post from 2011 concerning a oil leak issue for a rancher 455 with similar issues as mine. The response listed parts to replace. Are the parts the same for the 450 & 455?
Specifically the post listed #537 40 35 01 plug & #530 02 61 19 duck bill check valve. Are these the same for my 450?

The oil pump related parts are not but the vent and filter listed are. Personally I would suspect the oil pump assembly leaking due to wear. just depends on the usage and age of your saw.

I have a problem with my Husqvarna 450 chainsaw in that oil pours out as i am adding it to the reservoir.  I pulled, cleaned and reinstalled the pump and related parts...all looked good with no obvious issues.  I added a slight amount of bar oil and again it poured out as i was pouring it in.  I stood the saw upright, removed the chain and bar and then leaned it towards me and the oil ran out of the front hole in the chain guide????  What/where do I go from here...I've looked at every parts diagram I can find on the 450 and I can't find anything with detail enough to tell me what the issue could originate from...any help would be greatly appreciated!

Underneath the metal guide near the bar mount there an air for the oil tank It consists of a filter and a duck bill valve. This may be bad or missing. Also look as you tilt the saw looking and make sure it running out from under the muffler which I hope is not the case.

You need to remove the metal guide plate so you can see where the leak is.

Ok...finally had a chance to take a 2nd closer look...removed the guide plate and tilted the saw over...the oil is running out of the hole closest to the front of the saw...I'm thinking the duck bill valve and filter are 'missing'...but...where could they have gone?  would they be in the oil reservoir or could they have fallen out when I had the bar off for sharpening?  are they inserted from the outside? And thanks Eugene for the help!

I have no idea where they went. They are insert from the outside and can not fall into the oil; I'm fairly certain of that.

I just had a thought. Is all three bar pins in place? If one is missing (which could be in the oil tank) that would cause severe oil leak as these must be in place with a tight leak proof fit.

Maybe this image will help you out some. It from my 2014 Husky 450.

The hint and the picture you sent led me to the answer...and it is now resolved!  the front pin had indeed fallen loose into the oil reservoir.  I fished it out...lined it back up and tapped it back down...this resolved my issue.  How in the world did it fall loose into the oil reservoir is beyond me as it was tough to tap into place.  But thanks Eugene!
