    Question:
Can you explain how to replace the fuel vent on a husqvarna 55 chainsaw? Does the fuel tank have to be removed to replace the fuel vent? I have replaced the fuel line and the fuel tank bushing but still have a fuel leak when the saw is on its side while filled with fuel. I have checked the carb to ensure it not leaking.

Eugene, I removed the tank/handle assembly but I'm still not sure how to remove the tank vent. Does the tank split into halves? How do you remove the fuel vent from the tank? Thank You for the advice.

The tank is glue welded together and does NOT split in halves. The tank vent is a fiction fit. You should be able remove it by simply pulling it out. Since I haven't remove one these I don't know which would work better a flat blade screwdriver or a pair of needle nose pliers, just be careful not to damage to mounting hole.

I got it. I was able to insert a flat blade screwdriver into the tube and it came right out.

            Thanks Eugene!

      Donald,

Just a thought, but I had a chainsaw where one of the starter housing bolts was too long, I think the previous owner in-advertently switched a couple bolts around and put a long bolt in the wrong place. Anyhow, the fuel leak really was difficult to find until I completely removed the starter and observed fuel pouring out of the bolt hole. I did manage to get the leak plugged, and also got the right size bolt to fit. I don't believe it was a Model 55, but it may have been a Model 455.

Anyhow, you may have a similar problem.

      I hope this helps

        Karla,

Thanks for your reply. I checked the starter cover area but I was able to pin point my fuel leak at the fuel vent area.
