General Product Question
Just bought a Husqvarna 128LD string trimmer from Lowes and cannot get the lower boom to fit all the way into the sleeve on the power shaft. It goes in partially but not far enough for the lock button to engage the hole on the power shaft sleeve. Looking through the small crevice in the coupling sleeve I can see that both ends of the power shaft and boom are pressed against one another so there is now way to slide the boom further into the sleeve. The sleeve has two bolts that require a star tool to loosen on the power shaft side so I am assuming these should not be messed with. On the boom side of the sleeve I loosened the knob as instructed and the boom inserts but can not go in far enough because, as mentioned above, it contacts the power shaft too soon. Am I missing something here or did my unit come with mismatched parts?

Does not look like this person received a satisfactory answer. I also just bought a 128LD from Lowes with this same problem. Lower shaft will not fully engage. Turned cable from coupler to power head to no avail. My answer is to return it to Lowes and let them deal with it. If enough people return these maybe Husqvarna will improve their quality. In the factory I work at this is called an OBF (out of box failure). Our customers require us to to perform a RCCA (root cause and corrective action) on every OBF. My customers don't accept it and neither will I. I'm going to take it back to Lowes tomorrow and buy a Stihl. This may be too late to answer this fellows question but it may help those in the future.
