    Question:
I have a 455 Rancher, PN 966 03 73-20, SN 20101101161 what is the correct IPS (Parts List) to download from the Husqvarna Website? A suggestion to make downloading documents easier for the consumer is, instead of typing in the model number and getting multiple manuals or parts lists, not knowing which is the correct one. Type in the part number listed on the Serial Number Plate for the piece of Equipment. This way only the one correct OM or IPS will come up. Many Part numbers can be linked to one document, instead of many manuals listed for one model number.

    Hey Bob,

Thank you for using Answer Army.  We agree that a serial number look up for publications would be a much more precise way to look up publications.  This is a project that Husqvarna is working on and we look forward to having this capability in the future.  For now, the best way to find the correct manual is too view the publication that has the correct date range.

    For example:  For a 455 Rancher, PN 966 03 73-20, SN 20101101161

Since your looking for a 2010 Illustrated Parts List then please check the tick box for IPL's and hit Search.  Then simply look for the publications with the dates that are closest to the year 2010.

Here is a link to the IPL manual that you are looking for:

    IPL, 455 Rancher, 455 e, 460, 2009-10, Chain Saw

Thank you again for using Answer Army.

I have a 455 rancher as well. 5 years old,new gas every year and I still have to bring it in to get worked on EVERY time I need it. 400 dollar saw that costs about 70 dollars labor/parts everytime I need it. It would be more cost effective to purchase a throw-away saw to cut wood with. Not at all happy. Also had a 372 XP and it didn't even last 6 hours!

I also have a 455, I can't keep the dang thing running. I'm meticulous in its servicing and I still had to replace the piston head. My fuel was check and was correct I had the right mixture. Now its doing it again. Is there any help from husquevarna on this?

I disagree, and besides, how does one quantify "fresh" or measure it? I have a 455 (2010) also and am infuriated by the starting problem which cropped up this spring when I need to cut some wood for heat. Yes, I use Stabil and syn. oil along with the highest octane "fresh" fuel I can find here in upstate NY. I've ordered a carb kit and hope that does it. I'm also the disgusted owner of a 350 that's been parked on my basement workbench since that piston and cyl. self destructed. Through all of this, I haven't seen any strong warnings on ethanol, which has been around long enough to at least deserve one from Husq. or a solution better than this sophmoric bromide. To add insult to expensive injury, I can't seem to find any way to order a workshop manual for the 455. This is a disgraceful way to treat your customers who try to buy quality. In case you're wondering, I take very good care of every piece of equipment I own. Oh for the days of my Homelite Superduty saw I got as a gift for opening a cd.

I have a 455 Rancher that is 4yrs old and has been nothing but trouble. I also need service every time I use it and cant get more than 30min use out of it without it breaking down. Worst piece of junk I have ever owned and would never buy or rec. a Husqvarna product to anyone based on my experience. I had a cheap Homelite that lasted years and was much more reliable, less expensive and less trouble. Ready to throw it on the trash pile rather than waste any more money repairing it. Absolutely worthless piece of crap!

I've had better luck with my 455 Rancher. I cut about 16 cord of firewood per year and have never had it in the shop in the last ten years that I have owned it. I do strip the saw down every year and perform the owner service recommendation in the manual. I have another question posted on getting a non-recommended bar for it because I would like to cut lumber on an Alaskan Sawmill with the Rancher as well. It is too bad to hear that so many people are having issues with this saw, because I have experienced nothing but excellence from mine.
