I have a 128LD Trimmer. I made a mistake in purchasing a brush cutter and not installing the removal ring back to the head before tightening and now I cannot get it off. This is not a manufacturing issue and much as a bone head issue.
My problem is that I went to purchase a new trimmer attachment for my 128LD (at a Husqvarna dealer) only to find out that the attachment is not available as a separate purchase. I can get a new gear box for it and other attachments but not the trimmer attachment. You can get all the other attachments al a carte but not the trimmer.
So I spent $225 on a trimmer assuming that I could get parts for it in years to come. Can you please point me in the right direction?
Answer
Let's see if can get on the same page as you. Are needing a complete lower assembly or are just needing a replacement trimmer head?

I need this but for a 128LD. It is a flex shaft not a solid shaft and such has a different coupling.

EDIT: Never mind I just read this.

LDX and LD have different sized shafts aka not compatible
OP:
I found this

But I cannot confirm that is will work with the LD. Does the LDX have the different "star" coupling? The LD has a "square" coupling.

The LDx is not compatible with the LD version. Solid star drive shaft on the LDx and a flex shaft (square drive) on the LD.
Looks like the only option currently is order the needed repair parts for your current lower shaft. If you only needing the lower shaft and your gear head assembly is okay then you would need the shaft kit 545180848 which the lower tube and flex shaft.
