    Question:
    Hello.

I bought a Husqvarna Z246 zero turn mower. I bought a floor model.

Seems the model was returned to the store for resale and I bought it back in September so I did not use it till now. It looked brand new. Did not get a warranty with it.

First time mowing with it, it was making a noise from the deck. Parked it, jacked it up and there seem to be hay string and long horse hair wrapped around the cutter housing/shaft on both sides of the mower. I tried removing the blades with hand tools and an air wrench and the bolt will not budge.

    Any ideas?

Can I drop the blade from the top the of deck and if I do will the bearings come out?

Would it be easier to take the whole deck off and work on it that way, if so anyone have a video on how to do so?

    Thank you in advance.

First it does sometime removing the deck to work any mower. As the blade bolt not coming loose some impacts don't enough power to loosen the bolts. I usually block the blade tips so the blade won't turn and use a 2 foot pull bar to loosen them. I have had go though the top as you thinking about on a few. Most time I end replacing the spindle at that time. As the bearings the top should stay in but most times the bottom will come with the spindle.

So in your first sentence do you mean it does not require moving the deck?

I do have some air leakage on my air compressor but still could not do it with a regular tool. I did have the blades blocked so they would not turn.

I will have to google a pull bar (female here but mechanically incline).

So you say if I remove from the top the bearing should stay in place, will they drop just the blade and shaft?

Sorry to have so many questions.  And thank you

Yes sometimes you need to remove the deck to make things easier. What I was referring to is if your just removing the blades. I have removed spindle shafts without removing the deck but you got to have the clearance to get them out.

Yes the shaft and lower bearing should just drop out. Watch for spacers as they are on some assemblies to provide belt alignments with pulleys.

As for the pull bar I should have the term Breaker Bar which is the more technical name for the tool. I actually have a 5 foot cheater pipe that slides over the breaker to provide move leverage. I have already had to that cheater on a Troybilt mower just to get the blades off. Rust can give you problems. BTW I use impact sockets when these tools as regular sockets can shatter under the pressure.

Here is a Wikipedia link describing the breaker bar.
