    Question:
HU725AWD walk behind mower (Product Number 961450017) Won't start.
    Details:

Hello, I have a HU725AWD walk behind mower (Product Number 961450017) that won't start.  It belongs to my girlfriend.  She used it a few times last spring, when it was brand new; it only has a few hours of use  She then had a lawn service do her yard for her, and the mower sat, unused, for a year.  Now that we have met, I'm her lawn guy.  All the gas had evaporated out of the tank, and I replaced it with fresh gas.  I also changed to a brand new spark plug and the air filter looks new.  I can't get it to start.  It has a factory set choke and engine speed, so there is no manual choke or primer button, everything is automatic.  There is also no Fuel valve switch to turn on or off, so that can't be the reason.  I even tried a second, brand new spark plug, just in case I somehow got a bad one the first time.  It is still under warranty.  My guess is that it might be a dirty fuel filter.  Even though the gas tank was empty, sitting for a year probably caused sediment, and that probably got pushed into the fuel filter when trying to start it.  Anyone have any other guesses or tips to try?

    Thanks. for your help.

Since it has sit and the fuel evaporated most likely the carburetor is going to need cleaning. Also check that you do have spark at the plug.

Fuel induced problems are not covered by the warranty.

I purchased a Model 700 from Lowes Aug. 22 2015. It ran great the 3 times iI used it in 2015 but now that I have had to start mowing this year when it gets hot it will just shut off and won't crank until it cools back down usually at least 45 minutes until an hour. I have changed spark plug, flushed out gas line and still is running this way. Bought a Husqvarna thinking I was getting a good mower but the Murray lawn mowers at Wal-Mart are much better than this. My mower has a honda engine on it, contacted Lowes but it did no good, looks like I am stuck with a piece of junk that is only 7 months old, so much for a warranty!

        James,

I sounds like the ignition coil electronics are failing. It is fairly rare for the ignition coil to fail but anything is possible. One thing that could be causing the problem is a mouse bed under the flywheel shroud causing the lack of air flow. If this is the case then the warranty doesn't cover this as it is not a manufacture's equipment defect.

Equipment failure does happen with any equipment due to unforeseen manufacture problems which why there is warranties for such problems. Honda engines have 2 year warranty as long as you have your purchase receipt.

If it is not caused by a mouse bed causing overheating then please call Husqvarna customer service at 1-800-487-5951 to find what to do to obtain warranty service as it sounds like Lowe's is avoiding the issue. Now Lowes does have own service setup but still should be honoring the warranty repairs when needed.
