    Question:
I purchased a Husqvarna self propelled lawn mower (model HU625 AWD)late last summer (2015) and only used it 10 times or so. I've tried to start it for the first time this season (April 2016) but it does not start. I've added fresh gasoline, air filter is clean, oil is at good level. Is there a different starting procedure for starting the mower for the first time of the season?

With today's fuels it is likely that the carburetor may need cleaning.

Ok, thanks.   So how do I do that?

I went to Lowes today to buy something else and was telling that sales person about these issues and he said Husqu. is a great brand!  I asked why are there pages and pages of people on the Husqu forum who have the same problem I have?  I shouldn't have to change a spark plug or clean a carburetor within a year of buying it.  If Husqu doesn't know what type of fuel is sold in the US, why is Lowes carrying this brand?  He suggested I call Husqu, support line and I told him I had 3 times and each time after being on hold for 4 - 5 minutes, the system disconnected me.  They know.

He suggested I talk to the manager so I will.

I wish as easy as for engine manufactures to fix this as they would have done so; although, they have started trying to make these engines fuel injected but that is in its start up phase and will take time to iron the problems that are there. These problems with fuel injection is like when automakers first started making fuel injection systems as they had a lot problem too.

The biggest problem is the fuel itself as your gasoline suppliers are having to try to meet our EPA regs. In order to do that there are so many different additives being used it impossible to make parts that can withstand all of these. These fuel blends can go bad in as little as 30 days. As the fuel dries in a regular carburated engine it leaves behind residues that clogged jets and fuel metering passages. Even here in my shop fuel lines can soften in one customer machine, another harden rock hard, and yet another has no problem. This is with the same exact fuel line from the same production batch.

I recently brought a fuel line for 2 cycle engines that was supposedly 100% ethanol resistance. I run a month trial on it and came out on the fuel already harden and shrunken; needless, to say I wouldn't be installing that line as a replacement fuel line.

Thanks for explaining the challenges with this gasoline.  I had no idea.  It seems gasoline engines are now being rendered unusable and obsolete by the corn (ethanol) subsidies and the additives to keep ethanol from destroying an engine.

I just want to mow my lawn and when the HU625EX AWD worked, the cut was magnificent, plus the self-propelled function helped pull it and me up the hill, and that reduced pain on an ailing hip.

Unwittingly the corn subsidies are creating a market for electric mowers and other small engine tools, which will reduce the demand for gasoline with ethanol.  Huh.  Poor quality gasoline is killing the whole gasoline market.  Maybe we should get *** Cheney's, Exxon's and Shell's lobbying teams on this ; )

As for my situation and lack of desire to perform (and learn to perform) maintenance on machines, I'll try my hand at negotiating with Lowes' management to let me exchange this for a buff, AWD, self-propelled cordless electric mower.

Thanks again Eugene Rounds and the others who responded directly to me.
