Depending if wood is dirty or clean. The H22 is a semi chisel chain that wears less when cutting dirty wood and H23 is a chisel chain that is better suited for clean wood. So if your will cleaning up downed trees I would think the H22 will give better overall performance.
The term dirty wood used to describe wood that has been in contact with ground or wood that has been pushed up in piles by tractors or similar equipment where dirt and other foreign materials can be present where cuts are preformed.
Thank you for your response. I only cut dead trees or those fallen by nature. With that in mind I will go with your recommendation of the H22. Tks again for your insight.
Just purchased one myself. On the box mine stated it came with a H30-80 chain. Bought an extra chain. The place I bought mine from doesn't carry the Oregon g78 chain. Hope this helps.
Answer
I believe I found the answer to my question. I believe the 450 Rancher uses the H22 or H23 chain.

Which should I use for general yard work? Just cutting branches and trees found around homes? Should I use the H22 or H23? Comments welcome.
