    Question:
I have a like new LC221A. When I filled the oil, it kept going in without coming up to the dipstick level. It took a quart and still doesn't come up past 1/2 full. I started it and it started blowing oil out and then quit. The air filter was covered with oil. Where did all of the oil go? It sounds like a defect. It was given as a gift. Please help!

Depend if you was installing the dipstick back in all the way in when checking. If not that would explain the overfilling. You also could have the wrong dipstick. Drain oil and refill with only 16 oz. and check oil level again.

BTW that engine only need 16 oz of oil. Overfilling will cause the problems you  mention and probably fouled the spark plug.
