Please contact your local authorized service center. This doesn't sound right and I would want a dealer to look at the safety flap.

I checked the part number and this has been used about 2 years with no complaints.

I'm curious to know if it's normal for the rear safety flap to go under the mower when backing up?? What is suppose to happen when backing up or turning around? Also another issue is the black rubber padding on the handle bar, already starting to wear and split and to think I just made this purchase 2 weeks ago. Yes I will bring in this mower for inspecton. I'm quite dissapointed and have doubts this mower will bring me 20 years of satisfaction.

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

Yes the rear safety flaps can either curl under the mower deck or skim along on top of the grass.

The dealer can replace the grip on the handle under warranty.

    Hope this helps.
