    Question:
I purchased a Z248F on 3/27/2015 and the mower currently has 28.8 hours. On 7/3/2016 I could not mow for the holiday because the drive pulley melted off (see picture of pulley). I took the Mower to the dealer I purchased from and they replaced the part under warranty and I also had the break in oil changed. If this is an engineering defect will Husqvarna improve this part to avoid this in the future (Bad Boy has already upgraded this same part to metal) so customers can feel at ease? In this case if it is not to be upgraded can customers believe Husqvarna should allow all mowers using this part be allowed to purchase the extended warranty without their stipulations noted.

This was a simple bearing failure. Even if was metal you would had to replace it. Most likely you had to replace the v-belt too. BTW the metal do fail by locking up the same as the plastic version and can actually can more damage as the belt over heats, breaking and jamming in other pulleys.

The failure of these on equipment using going through my are relative low and I do this on all brands. In order to say if the Bad Boy flat idler upgrade because might very well due to another problem in their belt path design. In order to compare pulleys I would need the Bad Boys model number that was affect by the change you mention so I could compare the pulley specs. Just because they replace the pulley with a metal one doesn't it would work on Husqvarna. It sorta the same trying to put a 16" wheel assembly on a car that has 14" wheel assemblies; clearance issues and if the pulley diameter changes so does the belt length needed,

Now with that said I am having more wear out failures on the plastic v-idlers which I am looking for metal replacement version but haven't found any that matches the specs of the current pulleys that use the same standoffs.

You have not given me the answer needed to resolve this reoccurring problem and going forward I will not feel satisfied owning any Husqvarna equipment. I feel this problem will continue and Husqvarna will never support this problem. Therefor I will now send this Husqvarna mower down the road and purchase a quality mower and never purchase another Husqvarna product.
