    Question:
I have a Hu775h walk behind mower. On multiple occasions I have either broken the keyway or sheared off the star on the blade adapter. The last time I cut about 6 feet of grass and the star sheared off. I have gone through 5 OEM parts. The dealer said my blade is bad...do I need a new blade or is there a new workaround for this issue?

Did torque the retaining bolt to spec or just hand tighten? 55 ft lbs is what I tighten all my customer blade bolts to.

Also the dealer could be right about the blade star is now damage too and need to be replaced.

Thanks for your input...Hand tight with hardened washers and bolt... guess I have to borrow a torque wrench! No local dealers so I need to get adapter online. I will buy a new blade...but I fit the blade on a previous adapter where the internal keyway sheared off and there was no play between star and blade. Blade is just a little thicker then the star wasn't sure if that was an issue....

The blade being thicker is not an issue. I install heavier blades as my aftermarket supplier blades are always thicker.

Here is a helpful tip when torquing the new blade is to use a block of wood to prevent the blade from turning while your do this.
