Question:
I have several questions. On 9/23/11 I purchased a model 445 chainsaw. After reading the manual I tried to start it using the Quick-Start Guide. it would not start. I called Husquvarna for help. We discovered that the Quick-Start Guide is not the right one for a model 445. Does company knows this happens? So we used the Operator's manual which also does not describe in word or picture how to move the choke correctly on the 445.The engine would not start.I tried the video and it shows the 455 which is different from the 445. Finally, I took it back to Lowes who showed me how to move the choke to start it. A 445 video or specific directions in the manual would be nice.
Also, the manual says to lubricate the bar tip sprocket every time I refuel. Does this apply to the 445 model? It says to use the special grease gun. There was no special in the package. If I need one for the 445 where do I get it? What kind of grease do I use? Does the grease go in the little hole by the sprocket? This is very confusing.
Also, Does the needle bearing on the 445 need lubricating? it says to remove the clutch cover by removing the two nuts. The 445 has only one nut. When I removed the nut, the adjusting screw stops it from being removed. Can I completely unscrew the adjusting screw to remove the clutch cover? if so, will it go back in easily.
Also, there is no picture or verbal description of where the adjusting screw is on the 445 in the manual. I discovered it for myself by experimenting with what the screw in the clutch cover does. Again, it would be nice if the manual covered the details on the 445.
After all this confusion the chainsaw, I took it back to Lowes to return it and get my money back. They talked me into keeping the chainsaw because it is such a good instrument from a good company. This still has to be proven to me.
Answering my questions will be a good start. Having a manual specific to the 445 sent to me would help, too. The manual in the package that covers 4 different models does not work well for me. Thanks for reading this and helping me. Bob Garrard
