I picked up my 128LD trimmer Friday, 8/1/14 from Degens repair in Miramar Florida. My trimmer is only four months old and one day began to run only when the choke was on half way.

I was invoiced $126.58 to fix my trimmer, which included a quart of 50:1 mix 'TRUFUEL' which cost $14.99. They said it needed a new carburetor. They said the reason it needed it was because I used gas with ethanol in it. I was rather surprised at this. Then he pointed to several products right next to the cash register that will solve this problem my trimmer has, if I use them regularly.

I used the same gas in my 128LD that I use in my Stihl Chain saw that I have owned for 8 years and never had a problem with.

I went home with my repaired 128LD trimmer and $126.58 less in my pocket. I got out the Operators manual that came with my trimmer and went to the "''FUEL HANDLING" section and read it thoroughly. There is nothing about ethanol in the manual that I can find.

I am going to use this trimmer until my quart of $14.99 fuel is gone and then sell it on Craigs LIst and go buy a real trimmer.

I am also having the same problem with my 128LD. I just took it to the authorized service center to get fixed. Mine is only four months old. I will answer this question when I get mine back.
