I have this exact same issue.  The trimmer is literally 38 days old.  I took the recoil mechanism appart and discovered I think that the piece of plastic where the outer most spring inserts appears to be boogered up and no longer holds the spring correctly.  I know that the op manual says not to pull the sting all the way out and i assume i pulled it too far and damaged the piece of plastic.  That being said, I didn't pull it overly hard and this should never happen with a good design anyway (why plastic?).  Lowe's wont take it back since its older than 30 days.  Will Husqvarna just send me the whole back piece since its still under warranty or will I have to take it to the service location?
