Hi Karla, I did as you suggested and cleaned the bottom of the chainsaw and set it on newspaper yesterday. This morning a spot of oil about the size of a quarter showed up at the right front corner of the saw and there is oil in this area on the saw. There is also oil around the square cover on the bottom of the saw. Is this Place 4 you described in your answer? The amount of oil is minimum since I cleaned the bottom of the saw, but my experience has been that over a period of time it has been more than a minimum amount that has collected in the bottom of the saw case, but not enough to drain the oil tank. Thanks for your help.

Thank you Eugene. As I told Karla, I hope it is just the cap seal.

Karla, thank you for the reply. I'll do as you suggested about placing the saw on clean newspaper. Hopefully it is just the cap seal.

Eugene, thanks for the information. Not sure if you saw my original reply or not. I mentioned there are two Trigger and Lockout Kits. One kit is for Types 1-6 and has a plastic spring. The other kit is for a Type 7 and has a metal spring. I have removed the two pins and disconnected the throttle linkage from the trigger. However, the trigger and lockout mechanism still will not come out of the handle. What do I need to do to remove these items from the handle to see what is wrong? Thanks, Jerry
Eugene, thanks for the information. I have not removed the trigger and lockout yet, but I can see a flat metal spring on the right side of the trigger. In looking up the Trigger & Lockout Kit, there are two part nos. One is for Types 1-6 and has a plastic spring. The other is for Type 7 and has a metal spring. Will either kit work on my saw? Since the lockout is not working, the spring may not be in the correct orientation. Is there an illustration that shows the correct orientation?
