    You nailed it.  Thank you!  I didn't look for, or see, the cylinder.  The grease gun now works.

    I've been using a Jonsonred saw for about 30 years that finally pooped out so I purchased the Husqvarna.  The Jonsonred grease gun was the same design, except the cylinder was attached to the cap by a chain and obvious whereas the cylinder for the Husqvarna was inside the gun and I didn't think to look inside..  I mentioned the Jonsonred cylinder to the service technician when bringing in the gun for inspection and he didn't look inside either.

    But, to give him credit, when I picked up the gun yesterday, he had discovered the cylinder by looking at a new (unfilled) gun.

    Your comment that you personally don't grease the tip matches what the service technician told me.  I've always greased it during every gas tank refill out of habit, but will reconsider this in the future.
