When shutting down an aircraft radial engine a mechanic (me in 1956) sets the throttle at idle and places the mixture lever into cutoff while observing the RPM for a certain amount of rise to indicate the idle mixture is properly adjusted.This increase in RPM is what occurs when the 141 carb is being starved of fuel.

I disassembled the carb and found that the Impulse Pipe (#530053435) was chaffed and probably leaking air. I ordered most of the possible causes for my problem and am waiting to see if it works. Thanks for your assistance.
