    Question:
I just bought a 122c today. After using it I went to clean it and found that the cutting attachment guard and the shaft leading up to the trimmer head had grease specks all over it. I wiped it off and ran the trimmer some more only to find more grease coming out of the metal collar near the trimmer head. I called and the tech told me it was ok and this was normal. Is this just excess grease being expelled or should I be worried?

    Lance,

This is likely just that, excess grease. When the unit is running the grease inside of it does become thinner due to heat and that grease is slung to the outside of the unit on account of centrifugal force. If there was excess grease present it could have worked it's way out of the head. Also, rest assured in the fact that this unit does carry a two year warranty from the date of purchase should this prove to be an issue. Simply maintain your proof of purchase should you need to take the unit to a dealer for any warranty work.

     I hope this helps.
