Service & Maintenance Question posted August 21, 2012 by J Mattes
    Question:
I have DRT900 that I purchased at the end of March. I am having issues with the shifting on the tiller. The gears no longer align with the shift indicator. Also I cannot get the tiller in reverse anymore. As you are shifting the forward and reverse till lock in way to the left. The middle portion is just very loose and the far right will get me into forward and neutral. Any idea what the issue maybe. I didn't want to tear into the transmission if it is under warranty.

Service & Maintenance Question posted October 4, 2012 by Raymond Pipitone
    Question:
Just got my new FT900 tiller. It started on the first pull. After several minutes of running the idle became very rough. The only way it runs smoothly is if I choke it half way. Is the rough running normal, or does it need some type of service or adjustment?

    Thank you!

Service & Maintenance Question posted June 7, 2013 by Ken Theis
    Question:
Brand new DRT900H tiller. Put it together runs great on idle or moving it to the Garden. I can engage the tines in the air and still runs good. As soon as I drop it in the groud, under load the engine surges constantly and consistantly. No change in the RPMs as it hits harder or softer soil. The machine bounces forward and back. This can't be normal? Somewhat hard to handle when tilling. Locale dealer is working on it and can't seem to figure it out. Replaced Carborator, he feels that it is not normal but is it a characteristic of the tines or this machine? Anybody have the same problem?
    Details:

Anybody having this same issue, is it normal. any fix for it?  I don't think its normal for an $800 machine to run in this way. My old $150 POS MTD lawnmower works better under load.  I would think a really nice Honda motor would do better.  Any help or directions on this.  Thanks.

Service & Maintenance Question posted June 5, 2014 by Gordon Handford
    Question:
Husqvarna CRT52 rototiller: how much packing grease should you put into the transmission when repairing it?
    Details:

I had a broken drive chain to the wheels, opened the transmission (after moving Heaven and Earth to remove the wheel) and found only about one tube of packing grease (mostly settled in the bottom and clearly old and not very effective).  After I replaced the chain, I repacked with three tubes, also coating the shift mechanism (space perhaps 2/3 full of grease).  After reassembling I drove it 100 feet to pump the tires (all settings working except reverse).  When I went to restart it, there was no power delivery to the wheels or tines, and when I released the transmission lever  there was a temporary, unpleasant, grinding sound.  This happened every time I released the lever to disengage the transmission.  I'm sure I have broken the input pinion and/or other gears.  How much grease should it have in the transmission after I take it apart and  assess the damage and replace the parts?

    Question:
I bought a DRT900H tiller 3 months ago. It has about 10 hours use to date. It is very difficult to shift into gear. In addition, the transmission makes a grinding/scraping noise, even when I push the unit forward with the transmission in neutral with the engine off. Based on the number of complaints I have seen on the web, is there something fundamentally wrong with the design of the transmission in this unit? Has there ever been a recall to fix this problem?

Fuel switch location? I just purchased the. DRT900H tiller....escalated
Service & Maintenance Question posted November 11, 2012 by Bill Partner
    Question:
Fuel switch location? I just purchased the. DRT900H tiller. It was a return and fully serviced before I purchased it. But I cannot get it to start. The manual I downloaded from the Husqvarna site is for a 2009-2012 models. I have the 2012. The start up directions say to Push fuel valve to “ON” position and Turn engine switch to “ON” position. I cannot locate either of these switches on the tiller or in diagram provided in the manual. I know it seems like a silly question but can someone tell me where these are? I can start the tiller If I pour gas in carburetor but it only runs for a second. I am guessing if there us a fuel switch it is set to off. Any help would be appreciated

Service & Maintenance Question posted July 18, 2013 by Janet Meissner
    Question:
I have a brand new Husqvarna 900 rototiller that I have used twice (less than two hours). The second time I used the machine it started forward and/or reverse motion (depending on the gear I selected) regardless of whether I had the tine control depressed to the handle of the machine or not. Previously, forward or reverse movement would only occur (as explained in the operator's manual) when the tine control handle was engaged (held to the handle). Do you have any trouble shooting ideas? This is the 2nd machine as the first one wore a hole through the guard and belt broke with less than an hour operation. I hope you can get Husqvarna and myself back on track to a satisfied customer relationship. Thanks!

Service & Maintenance Question posted April 22, 2013 by Larry Fortson
    Question:
I have a Husqvarna rear tine tiller. While tilling by neighbors garden I hit a tree root. The gears all work but the tines will not turn. I took it to a repair shop. and was told that the transmission was broken and would cost around $700. it would be cheaper to buy another one from him. My question is that I checked the tiller and it would go into forward and reverse with out any problem. If this is the case how can the transmission be broken. He also told me on the phone that maybe the chain was broken.
