Service & Maintenance Question posted October 3, 2011 by Bill Dunn
    Question:
I just purchased a new Husqvarna 122HD45 hedge trimmer. The unit starts immediately with no problem, however after starting it does not appear to run in the "start throttle position" and the blades do not move. (I am familiar with Husqvarna chain saws and their start throttle position characteristics). While idling, I adjusted the throttle screw from full clockwise to full counter clockwise, with no change observed in the idle speed and the blades remain motionless. At either extreme position, the engine will die. Furthermore, I cannot get the unit to get above idle speed without manipulating the choke - that is, I have to feather the throttle while adjusting the choke on/off until the engine rpm's increase. Once running above idle speed, the trimmer runs fine at various engine speeds until I let it go back to idle. To get above idle, I must once again manipulate the choke/throttle. Any suggestions on how to resolve my throttle issue?

    Question:
Purchased a 123HD60 hedge trimmer. During first use I hit a branch larger than the trimmer could handle and it killed the motor. The motor would restart, but when pressing the throttle trigger the blades do not move. I've checked the manual, but there is no answer there. Is there a clutch reset or something to that effect on gasoline-powered trimmers? Again motor's fine but the blades don't work.

    Tks

    Question:
I bought a brand new Husqvarna 122HD60 and used it for the first time. It starts easy every time. However, if you give it full throttle the engine bogs and dies. The only way to get it to full throttle is to feather the the trigger slowely. This is the case whether it is just started or has been running for some time and in all operating positions (angle)

    Question:
Need the carb settings on a Husky 122HD45 hedge trimmer. Have the tool, just need the settings.
    Thanks Tony
    Details:

Out of the box it worked but then it would only choke itself out. Don't want to bring it to a dealer it takes too long plus they will only work on it if you bought it from them.

    Question:
I purchased a Husqvarna 122HD60 about a year ago. I've run it less than 10 hours, and now it's acting like others on the Husqvarna and Amazon have described - hard to start, and runs roughly or outright dies when given throttle. It was never easy to start, and always ran a little rough.

As this is a somewhat common problem, I assume there is either a misadjustment or defect in this product. I will never buy another Husqvarna product again.

At this point I need to get it repaired. I've called one Husqvarna authorized dealer, and they offered this: 1) change the gas, or 2) bring it in and we will definitely charge you to look at it and *attempt* to fix it. I'm using the same gas in this that I use very successfully in my Echo weedeater and Poulan chain saw, so I very much doubt it's a gas issue.

Can anyone recommend a good dealer who might have some familiarity with this issue near San Jose, CA?

    Thanks all.

    Question:
Why won't my Husqvarna 128C trimmer stay running at a high idle?
    Details:

It will start and idle fine all day if you wanted it to. But it dies just like you pushed the kill switch when I give it full throttle. My local dealer could not figure out what the problem is. He was going to put a new carburetor on it but he said it wasn't a fuel issue. It will run for about 10 seconds at full throttle...sometimes longer and sometimes less. I need help fast....the weeds are getting tall fast.
