Did your ever get your answer? I'm not customer service but generally your mower is under warranty for 3 years,  except for the engine it only gets 2 years (i've just recently just found out). My recommendation to you is bring back to where you bought it or an authorized service center. If you bought it at Lowes you should have a toll free number just behind and below the seat. I'm having my own issues with Husqvarna service and I hope that helps and wish you luck. Make sure you Have your receipt!

Update #2:  I received a call from a Lowes Servive Rep this morning informing me they had received an answer from Husqvarna and Husqvarna basically told tell sorry, it's no longer under warranty and would not even address or entertain my issues with my defective engine. Basically they told me to "pound sand". I'm glad at least I  contacted Kohler directly and they were extremely receptive and professional with my issues. I can't believe Husqvarna would treat it Customers like this! As far as Lowes is concerned they"re history also. It wasn't looking for anything free..but is it too much to expect that an engine would last a little more that 2 1/2 years with less that 180 hours. Thanks husqvarna for your great customer service and having enough courage to have contact with your customers directly instead of this ridiculous Blog site "public forum" which lets customer complain and post bonafide issues and you don't directly do anything for your loyal customers except say "oh I'm sorry to hear that happens and just take it to a authorized service center. Husqvarna! You should Take Kohler's example and have the courage and dignity to contact your customers directly whether you believe it is warranted or not. I leave you with this thought it is not you who sets quality in your company it is your past customers, If the customer doesn't believe he/she has gotten Value/Quality they will walk like I have from your products. You should read up on a little history about manufactering and quality assurance, just ask the people in Detroit.

Update, I received a callback from Lowes on 6/1/12 advising me that someone will be in contact with me on monday 6/4/12. I received an email from kohler the same day. I explained the situation and sent them additional photos of the engine and they offered to send me a new short block (engine). The catch is I'd have to pay for labor, They offered to pay half if the service center finds mechanical defects in any parts. either way it will cost me several hundred dollars to transfer parts from the old engine to the new.( they just covered the block itself and not external components i.e. carburator, starter etc. which I'm completely satisfied with) I dropped off the mowwer this morning at an authorized service center and we will see how the process goes. I havent beeen contacted by Husqvarna (cricket...cricket) and maybe my comments were/are being forwarded to Kohler.

at least you got a briggs and stratton engine, if it was a kohler it would be in pieces like mine with under 200 hours and less that 2 1/2 years of use.
