O MY GOD!! I just found out that the part number 428106 has been discontinued. That's the friction wheel. The new part that replaces it is the entire transaxle assembly for 329.99 plus shipping. I couldn't find receipt so thank God for debit card records. Walmart was able to find me a receipt as long as I could provide the exact date it was purchased, so hopefully warranty will cover everything.
Wow will I be glad to see this pile of junk leave my shop for good.......

Do yourself a HUGE favor and return this pile of crapp and buy a real lawn tractor. My weedeater one is broke, AGAIN!!! This time it's the drive wheel rubber for the friction tranny that went south. It came off in chunks while mowing. Major part and I couldn't find the part in stock in town. I got frustrated for the last time and went out and bought a REAL lawn tractor for only 265.00 more than what I originally paid for the junk mower "weed eater". I had heard folks call the weed eater one a throw away mower, and now I know what they are talking about. I have had mine exactly a year and it has been one thing after another from day one.
Cut grass yesterday with a new Poulan XT 42 inch 17.5 hp. O my God, what a difference!! Smooth, poweful and fast. Cut mowing time in half and lawn looks way, way better. Lot more fun too,lol. Home depot for 949.00 plus 10% off for applying for credit card. I paid over 600.00 for the weed eater and there is absolutely no comparison between the 2.
