I found the same thing with mine the first time I operated it. What I found is that engaging the blade slowly stops the insane vibrating that is caused from the blade going from stationary to operating speed. Think of it like the clutch in a car, if you let it out to quickly the engine will die. That's what is happening when engaging the blade to fast.
