    "Throttle/choke" control or only a throttle...escalated2
General Product Question posted April 23, 2013 by c schutte
    Question:
"Throttle/choke" control or only a throttle control?

Just purchased yth24k48 from Lowe's. User manual says to start *AND* to run tractor with throttle control in "fast" position. The user manual does not mention a "throttle/choke" positon for the throttle control. Tractor has separate choke button for cold starts.

The "Easy start-up" guide that came with tractor says, when starting, push throttle control forward into "choke" position. After starting, pull lever backward into "run" position. However, the picture on the "easy start-up" guide does not indicate a separate choke button. The guide is copy-righted 2010 and might be incorrect for our model?

Do we run the tractor with the throttle pushed all the way forward until it dips into postion or do we start engine in that position and then pull the throttle back a bit? Our old tractor died if left in the throttle/choke position but did not have a separate choke button. The yth24k48 does not die when left in fully forward throttle position. We don't want to run the mower when less than fully powered or when slightly choked but the discrepancy is a bit confusing.

    Thank you.

I would also like the location it was bought?

General Product Question posted July 13, 2014 by William Nance
    Question:
#1 Why does Husqvarna not put drain hols in the footrest area of their tractors? When washing off the tractor, this is the area where warter accumulates and does not drain. the problem can be solved by drilling a small drain hole in the lowest part of the foot rest.

#2 Bought a YTH24V48 from Lowes a little over two months ago and love the way it mows the uneven areas at my rural property. Mowing time is cut by more than half.

Now for the bad--yesterday while mowing a realtively flat area, encountered a chunk of cedar root with the center blade. This encounter caused the entire mandrel housing for the center blade to shatter dropping the blade from the mower deck. I recovered the tractor and removed the mower deck. There appears to be no other damage except for the mandrel housing for the center blade. The repai shop I use says that the mower appears to be fine, but the mandrel housing (which he has already orderd) does not appear to be of the highest quality, but the rest of the mower is of VERY high quality. he stated that this was the second broken mandrel housing on a Husqvarna he has seen this weekend.

    Question:
*Severe itching due to mower vibration* I just purchased a YTH24V48 Fast Tractor lawn tractor with the 48" cutting deck a few months ago. While I have no problems mowing with it and find it to be quite comfortable, my daughter has used it and complains that the vibration causes severe, unbearable itching around her midsection and thighs. This happens consistently within five minutes, regardless of the mowing blades being on or off. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks.

General Product Question posted May 21, 2016 by JMG2016
    Question:
    1) LACK OF POWER IN REVERSE: I just purchased a 2016 Husqvarna YT42DXLS with a Kawasaki engine. The tractor works fine except that REVERSE is extremely sluggish and underpowered. I know that its speed in reverse is limited to 2.5 mph, but even with my foot pressed to the max on the reverse pedal, it lacks the power to go up even a slight incline. I have several areas on the property that have lawn in them but there isn't enough room to turn around and the only way I can mow them is to go forward, then engage reverse to back out again to an area where I can turn. Today I almost got stuck in one of these areas in that I couldn't make it up a slight incline in reverse to back out. I tried disengaging the mower in the hope of increasing the power to the wheels but it didn't seem to make any difference.

    2) TRACTOR WON'T STAY STOPPED ON A HILL: When I'm mowing on an incline and want to stop for a moment by taking my foot off the accelerator pedal, the tractor begins to accelerate down the hill unless i apply the brake pedal. I had a SEARS tractor which didn't do this, i.e., it would hold its position on an incline PLUS allow me to reverse on an incline with plenty of power. The new Husqvarna YT42XDLS doesn't allow this. Perhaps I am doing something wrong.

Any suggestions would be of help.

General Product Question posted May 13, 2016 by JMG2016
    Question:
1)I ordered at YT42DXLS which will arrive in several days. How many anti-scalp wheels does it have on the fabricated mower deck? If only 2, why does it not have rear anti-scalp wheels? I should think that rear anti-scalp wheels would help prevent scalping on hills as a portion of my mowing area has a fairly steep slope to it. Any strategies or suggestions to prevent or minimize scalping on the slope if the mower deck is equipped with 2 front-mounted anti-scalping wheels?

    2) Are the anti-scalp wheels on the Husqvarna YT42DXLS fabricated mower deck adjustable? If so, are there pre-drilled holes to permit differing wheel positions so that they can be configured to be 1" above the ground at the desired mowing height of 3 inches in my case? The i" was suggested in one of the answers to a scalping issue question.

    Question:
    1. Why is the lever that changes the cutting level on the left side? It makes it difficult to get on and off the mower.
    2. I think the model # and serial number should be put on the receipt by the selling dealer.
    3. Need an improved gas gauge.

    Question:
    12Jul14

Approximately a week ago, a question was submitted; no reply. This date after five minutes on a telephone tree, ten minutes on hold, I received an individual whose coffee break I must have interrupted owing to the crabby attitude. It was confirmed that this was the e-mail address. I was also told that this was not a public forum and that a reply would be received from Husqvarna. The text of last weeks e-mail:

"My Snapper died after a mere 26 years of use and I purchased a Husqvarna. Although it doesn't do all that the Snapper did, it works save for one issue: This old, disabled, Army vet cannot maintain a perfectly upright and balanced posture. The next result is that I must start and re-start and re-start the tractor multiple times just to mow the yard. Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas?"

    Question:
2012, GTH24V52LS. I was just told that this unit has a production date of May 10, 2012 at your North Carolina facility, must be shipped to Reno, NV to your Distribution Warehouse and then shipped to us in Colorado. 4-6 week lead time. No Dealer has received this model yet, but many are claiming they own it and you have multiple reviews on your main site regarding it.
As a contractor, Mowing season started a month ago so how could this not be available. Please do not over run us with the standard response of available here and there and all retailers, check the phone book and such, that is really condescending. Thanks.
