Question:
I have the following Lawn Mower Serial: 021213M 022935 Model# HU800AWD 22" walk behind lawnmower. Best lawnmower I have ever had from Pollun, Toro, and many others. I love the machine except: The Blade Adapter/Engine Pully being a two part pressured fitting item made by SINTERGY #581851501 for the Honda GCV 190 motor, through the dynamics of the pressure of the drive belt, after four lawn mowings seperated. This particular piece is not as pictured in the manual. The top part of this fitting does NOT have a key and the engine shaft does not have a crank-shaft keyway, for the top section of this pulley. It is smooth and so is the crank-shaft except at the very bottom near 3/4 of a inch, where there is a key and a crank-shaft key way. I was cutting the grass and noticed very little power to the wheels. I adjusted the adjusted the drive control, cut some more, and eventually had no drive at all when the top section of the blade adapter - engine pulley finally seperated. I did a check by going through the procedure of a belt replacement to see if I could find what was wrong, not knowing this was a two part piece and never thinking this piece would seperate, through the pressure dynamics of the high revolutions of the drive. I did find the top section of this piece floating free above the bottom section of the blade adapter/engine pully. I took the blade off and the two piece. I took a rubber mallet and tapped the piece together. Really took a bit of time and hard to do. Once together I put the lawnmower back together. I readjusted the drive control I continued to cut the grass. Half and hour later this piece seperated once again. That is when I called to get a replacement part. Your dealer is a 200 mile round trip by the time I take it to them, leave it and then go back and get her when done. So the cost and incovienance was more than the part so I just paid for the repacement part. It was on back order, my grass did not stop growing, and now my concern is the following. Once I get the replacement part and it is not modified to stop this seperation it will happen once again. There is no way it will not happen. ((I would suggest that drilling through these two pieces, then tapping the drill hole with an expanding piece of metal would solve this problem.)) In the mean time I have a the replacement part due in at you facility on the 10th of June then it will be shipped to me. Once I receive this part I am hesitiant to install it because of my concerns that this will happen once again. So in the meantime I can not cut my lawn. If I do install this piece and it seperates again, (and it will if not modified), here we go again. What is the answer? In my opinion this is a design flaw, because whoever designed this did not take into account the dynamic pressurers the drive belt would put on this pressure fitting. I have the piece and if you need a photo I can do that. Got an anwer for me? Thank you for your time, Ned Crimmin
