Should I replace the oil pump?escalated
Service & Maintenance Question posted May 26, 2012 by Ken Boyes
    Question:
Should I replace the oil pump?
    Details:

This is a model 351 I purchased in 2000 but has low hours. It really hasn't used enough oil right from new. I recently took it apart, cleaned and inspected the oil tank and pickup screen. Pump and drive gear look new. Could it be a faulty pump ? Would it be worthwhile changing it ? I should add also that I've used Husqvarnia chain oil from the start.

I recently installed a carb kit, the saw runs like a top. I'd really like to have the oiler working properly.

    Thanks for your help

    Ken

    Question:
I recently purchased a saw. It is your 350 model. I purchased one of your models because I had always heard how dependable your products are. I am a diesel technician for a very large and well known company Walker Machinery. I have been a mechanic for over ten years. I recently started taking side jobs cutting trees. I started my first job last Friday. I was using your saw and about half an hour into the job my muffler bolts loosened and fell out. This caused the muffler to start melting the chain oil tank. luckily I noticed and put a stick under it while it cooled down so it wouldnt create a hole. I then took the saw to a saw mechanic I know. He suggested I use red lock tight. I purchased a gasket, new bolts and red lock tight. I assembled and took to my job to use the next day. The same issue occurred. I am now going to puchase a helicoil set and hope that will give me some new threads t hold on to. My friend has the same exact model but his is brand new. Believe it or not we got about four hours of use and his new saw had the same exact issue occurred. We were at the job and this really slowed our productivity down. What should have been a full 1 day job has now turned into a 3 day job. Wandering if you have any suggestions. I was using brand new double chisel blades. Other than the mufflers falling off the saws worked great.

    Question:
I recently burned the cylinder and piston in my 350 chainsaw beyond repair. My question is does a change in elevation mean a change in carb settings.
    Thank you for your time

Service & Maintenance Question posted April 9, 2012 by Scott Frazer
    Question:
I have a Husqvarna 350 chain saw. I took it to the service center after it would not restart when warm. They determined the piston/cylinder was scored. I have run non-ethynal fuel and the proper gas husqvarna oil mix since I bought the saw new. I am having the saw repaired but my question is, should I increase the oil in the mix ration. This saw has about fifty hours or less of run-time and this is an expensive repair that I don't want to repeat. Any specifics to how to prevent this again would be appreciated.

Service & Maintenance Question posted March 10, 2012 by ROBERT JOSTES
    Question:
I have a 455 Rancher with an 18" bar that I cannot keep the chain on. Saw has less than 90 minutes of use and probably that much time with me swearing at it. The tool less tightening mechanism does not work. When I asked my local dealer about it they sold me a new standard cover that I can use a wrench and screwdriver on. Apparently this is a common complaint. The failure of the chain coming off is exacerbated by the the fact that when it comes off, it chews up the drive teeth so they need to be ground so the chain will work again. This is a pretty poor design when a common failure mode results in the destruction of the chain. So for another $60, I may be able to get the saw running for more than 10 minutes at a time. I hear all the time that there are only two saws worth looking at, Husky and Stihl. You can guess which direction I will be sending people when asked.
    Your frustrated customer,
    Rob
