Service & Maintenance Question posted August 24, 2013 by Edward Danberg
    Question:
My Weedeater One has been a constant disappointment. I have had one thing or another break every time I mow my lawn. It has proven incapable of mowing a half acre without something breaking. The latest issue is the drive chain comes off with the slightest bump. It is very easy to see why: The differential asm gear on which the chain rides is plastic. It flexes enough for the chain to come off and very predictably the teeth are wearing down. To replace the differential costs $300 just for the part and I doubt I can or should try to do it myself. It is out of warranty, so I am looking at $500+ to repair what was only an $800 mower new. Before deciding to throw more money at this machine I want to know if the new differential will be plastic too? There is no way I want to spend the money if the new part won't hold up any better than the original.

Any recalls for the WE261 Riding Lawn Mower?escalated100%
Service & Maintenance Question posted April 5, 2013 by John Russell
    Question:
Any recalls for the WE261 Riding Lawn Mower?
    Details:

I have a WE261 riding lawn mower that I purchsed from Wal Mart in October 2011 when they were closing out the Lawn and Garden equiptment.  This was a floor model, but I still payed over $900.00 for it.  I have had nothing but problems with this lawn mower, and I have only used it ONE season!  This turned out to be a piece of junk that wasn't worth bringing home.  I was very very caution in buying the "Weed Eater" brand as they tend to be known for the poor quality, but I took a gamble.

I have been trying to contact support, and being transfered every which way, and no resolutions.  I am unable to locate my receipt for the mower, so I am getting no where with the warranty -- I guess Wal-Mart had this rider sitting around for a while so it ate into my warrenty period per the serial number.

So -- getting ready to start season two of this after putting some money into it last year (all new tires and tubes), new spark plug, oil change, fuel stabilizer, and the whole 9 yards for the tune up.  Got it started, put it into gear and now it vibrates and doesn't have much power.   In looking at the internet for this, its a $300.00 + job to have done and it is common in all these with the transmission.  If there is not a recall for this yet, I hope that one does come because this is a total waste of money,  and these things are a big rip off!!

Way to go Weed Eater -- living up to your name as selling junk, but at a higher price!

Service & Maintenance Question posted May 24, 2010 by Chummy, tagged Weed Eater One
    Question:
Vibration Issue: I just bought a weedeater one from Walmart and when I engage the blades, there is a ton of noise and tons vibration like it's about to fall apart as the blades start going, but once it goes at full pace, it seems ok or at least much reduced. I don't know if this is normal or not, because I don't know anyone else with one, and the units on display at the store don't have any gas in them for me to compare to. So I was wondering if this is normal, and if not, is this something I can quickly fix because of an imbalance (and how do I do that), or is this something I need to return to the store immediately before my 14 days are up. Thanks in advance!

    Question:
Weed Eater One reverse problem !!!!!
Recently purchased a Weed Eater One from Walmart. I absolutely love the machine. My only problem is that reverse doesn't work properly, if at all. Is there some sort of adjustment for this. Have to play with brake pedal and move gear selector between reverse and neutral to get it to move at all and even when you get it moving it just stops after a foot or two. All foward gears work great.

    Question:
Hello I have a weed eater one rider. I am having problems getting the electric start to work. The battery is fine with 12.5 volts. When I go to start it. One of the fuse relays under the seat makes a loud whining noise. There is 2 relays. Thinking the relay was bad I swapped the 2 relays over. And it's always the relay on the left side of the mower whining. What could be the problem here?

Service & Maintenance Question posted April 6, 2016 by Dale Christopher
    Question:
My Weedeater One's Friction pulley broke on the upper shaft where it attaches to the engine. This should never happen. When i engaged the mower the crankshaft spun inside the pulley. After I removed the engine I found the pulley had split at the upper shaft. I ordered the partsbut my question is the crankshaft has a keyway notch on the shaft apparantly to keep the pulley from moving on the shaft. There is a bolt on the bottom of the pulley that bolts to the crank. I cannot find the keyway anywhere online. Does anyone know if the key is used on this pulley or is the pulley locked to the crank by the bolt??
