General Product Question posted September 18, 2014 by toby moreland
    Question:
I have a weedeater one, we261, model #9602400001 01, serial # 010811L001970, purchased in 2011. a recall on the friction wheel is in place for my model, but excludes my serial # for some reason. I have the same exact issue that is reflected in the service bulletin #B2010002015, but the service company statess the wheel is not under warrantee. They also stated that the wheel itself cannot be ordered, that the entire transmission assembly must be replaced at a cost of $320 plus tax and labor! This cost is more than the mower is worth! Please advise why this fault in manufacturing that hundreds of other people are also experiencing, is not covered by the bulletin, or at minimum, how I can obtain just the friction wheel...I can replace the $20 part myself. Please dont reply and say i must buy the entire transmission! thank you for your help in this matter.

    Question:
I HAVE HAD MY WEED EATER ONE FOR 2 MOWING SEASONS. THE FIRST YEAR IT WENT TO BE REPAIRED BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. KNOW IT WILL NOT GO IN TO 2ND OR 3RD AND IF I TRY IT WILL THROW THE DRIVE CHAIN OFF. I TOOK IT TO ONE OF THE BEST REPAIR SHOPS IN EAST TEXAS, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRAMISION WAS MADE OF PLASTIC, AND I WOULD SPEND MORE THAN WHAT I COULD BUY A NEW RIDING LAWN MOWER FOR. SO I GUESS THAT I HAVE LEARNED A GOOD LESSON. NOT TO BUY WEED EATER OR ANY OF ITS PRODUCTS. THANKS YOU FOR A GOOD LESSON. I WILL TELL EVERONE HOW GOOD YOUR PRODUCTS ARE.

General Product Question posted August 13, 2013 by Fred Endemann
    Question:
How can I ID electrical problem that prevents starting my WE261? Dealer says it started when they bypassed safety interlock system in their shop. Have tested all safety switches for continuity: brake, mower deck, seat. Dealer says there is a compression release switch that prevents starting, where is that? How to test it.

Mower suddenly would not (re)start after mowing for an hour. Battery fine. Previously usually used the pull start, with parking brake engaged, with no troubles. No visible wiring connection problems in the harness.

Should I just order a $70 replacement harness, how difficult would that be to install by myself. Any thoughts/ suggestions would be very welcome.

    Question:
I need to ask if there has been recall placed for the Weed Eater FL20C? I have used this unit for less than 8 total hours and it has malfunctioned again. I realize this is a lower priced item but if you review the attached photo it also shows a tag from being serviced for the same problem; the "gear as I will call it" is froze and will not move. The unit will not allow the cord to be pulled to start the motor. I hope that Weed Eater stand behind their product enough to offer some suggestion on what to do.

I've been reading slam after slam about the weedeater...escalated
General Product Question posted July 16, 2013 by B. Collins
    Question:
I've been reading slam after slam about the weedeater one. I have to say, I'm on my 3rd mowing season and have had nothing but great experiences.
The only problem I've had is a few flat tires (probably due to my mowing "style" (agressive)
I've never even disconnected the battery during the winter months... it fires right up in the spring!
    Tips:
    1. Engage the blades SLOWLY, like a clutch in a car
    2. CHECK THE OIL before EVERY mow
    3. Take your time...it's a small mower...if the grass is tall, go to 1st gear and do a 'half-cut' instead of loading the engine down
    4. Keep the blade sharp...it makes it easier on the motor
    5. Let it run for a few (15-30) seconds before putting it in gear...it's a carburated motor, it needs to warm up
    6. Clean your air filter
    7. Change the oil at leaset every riding season
    8. Most important...treat the mower as something you want to keep for a while...you take care of it, it will take care of you!

Again... no issues except for tires...cuts great and always starts...
This is from a 180lb average guy in Middle Tennessee with a mowing season from mid-May - October(ish), mowing every 2 weeks or so...

    Question:
The battery appears to be dead so I can not start my Weed Eater One riding mower with the key. How do I start it with the pull start ? I tried pulling the cord a number of times but it didn't start. Is there a trick to this ? Does the key need to be out or turned to some start position first ?
