Service & Maintenance Question posted June 28, 2012 by Jesse Peterson
I have a new Husqvarna 240 chain saw. Used it three times and now when I go to start it it floods really really easily. Spark plug is soaking wet after only a few pulls. I read that its possible the membranes inside the carb are torn. Nope. I took the carburetor apart to check. When I put it all back together, I blew everything out with compressed air so it was "dry" of fuel. I pulled the string and it started right up but then shut off within a few seconds. It flooded. There's too much fuel inbound. Any ideas? What should I look for? What are the two screws on the side marked H and L that are on the carburetor?

I have a 445e chainsaw and the chain brake will not work right. It won't let me put the clutch cover back on and it keeps the chain from moving. Right now I cannot get the clutch cover to fit over the clutch like it should and it does not engage the chain brake mechanism. Will I have to take it to a dealer to get this fixed?

Ok, I have a 455 Rancher that was bought new in October of 2011. It leaks a TON of bar oil while setting for any length of time. I had asked about it a few weeks ago and tried a few things based on the suggestions given. It still leaks badly. I even drained the tank to were there was about 1/4" or so of bar oil left in it. You could just see the top of the pickup. It leaked that oil out also.
So, I guess my next questions are, if it was a "normal" leak issue, where would the oil be leaking from? And what is the return policy on this thing if it is'nt fixed in a respectable amount of time? Because I have had it to a autherized repair shop twice, and have been told by them that "ALL CHAINSAWS LEAK LIKE THIS". I have owned other saws, they never leaked anywhere near as bad as this one. I would really like to have this issue resolved, either by having fixed, exchanged for another saw, or just get my purchase price back.

I have a new husqvarna 445 chainsaw that I just purchased. I am having trouble with the chain seizing on the bar. I am using the correct chain bar oil and I grease the nose sprocket at every fill-up. I've been cutting green oak and it seems that chips build up in the chain groove and sprocket. I've tried looser and tighter chain tensions but doesn't seem to help. This will happen about every 3 ~4 minutes. I'm so frustrated. What's wrong?

RE CS 2238S Jonsered made by Husqvarna
Bought it new, ran 100% 1st 3 hours...

Starts well but starves of fuel after 1 or 2 minutes.
and won't restart, not even fire.

Loosening the fuel tank cap, allows starting well and runs for another 1 or 2 minutes again until starving for fuel

Its obviously staving for fuel, because fuel vent is not functioning.

As it's $150 just for an estimate to repair and it can be replaced for $225 I need to repair it myself. Or ship it back as an example of a product priced so low it doesn't actually remain functional for long.

I have it stripped down to the bare powerhead. but can't locate all the fuel system vent components.

Can you email a fuel system vent diagram please?
Viewing the parts list shows the components but not their location, detail or routing.

Should I replace 545-03501 vent line, 530-029868 Vent plug, 530-026119 checkvalve ...what is your suggestion?

I have a Husqvarna 350 chainsaw. Informaation from the data plate on the chainsaw is the part# 967 01 13-00, Serial# 01-4707074. How do I associate this to the proper parts Illustration manual on Husqvarnas web site? I would like to buy some parts for the Chainsaw. I purchased this chainsaw in July of 2002.
Some examples of manuals on the web site is:
    350(2001-09)
    350 EPA (1999-09)
    350 EPA (2003-01)

I have a Husqvarna 350 chain saw about 10 years old. One day it worked fine, next morning it was hard to keep running and now it won't start. I changed the fuel line and filter and still won't start. Spark plug appears to be ok. What could be the problem?
