Service & Maintenance Question posted September 19, 2016 by Chad Chaplin
I have a DRT 900E, just over a year old. Was just in the garden tilling using the reverse till gear. I came to a stop to move something from my path. When I came back to the tiller and re-engaged, it seemed to be moving forward way too easy. I assumed it had somehow switched gears. However when I tried to switch gears I discovered that the shift lever is now free floating and I cannot shift at all. The last gear I left it in was the reverse tilling gear, yet it is acting like it is just in plain forward gear as the tines are not engaging either.
Please suggest a course of action. This is HIGHLY disappointing. I got rid of my old tiller, which still worked, paid top dollar for what I thought was a top of the line tiller, and here I am just over a year after purchasing and expecting to find out I have a multi-hundred dollar bill coming up.

I just bought a DRT900H. It idles fine, runs good just driving to the garden. As soon as you start to till the governor swings back and forth rapidly from idle to wide open throttle. The engine surges drastically the entire time I'm tilling. I brought it back to the dealer and they said nothing is wrong. They obviously didn't take it out and actually put it under load. I saw a previous post by Ken Theis that is the same as what I'm experiencing. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it. As it appears my dealer is just going to blow me off and I'm going to have to fix this myself. Thanks for any and all help. Terry

    Husqvarna Tiller - DRT900H

Love the tiller but shifting gears is very hard. You have to jam it in rarther than a smooth shift.

What is the problem / fix????

Brand new DRT900H tiller. Put it together runs great on idle or moving it to the Garden. I can engage the tines in the air and still runs good. As soon as I drop it in the groud, under load the engine surges constantly and consistantly. No change in the RPMs as it hits harder or softer soil. The machine bounces forward and back. This can't be normal? Somewhat hard to handle when tilling. Locale dealer is working on it and can't seem to figure it out. Replaced Carborator, he feels that it is not normal but is it a characteristic of the tines or this machine? Anybody have the same problem?

Just bought a 655RTT tiller used. Got the manual on line downloaded. There is no reference to transmission oil. The engine oil has a yellow cap good. But there is a cap above that, white or clear, the manual does't show this item. Is it transmission fluid? And if so, what type and weight? Thanks Kmarie

I have a Husqvarna FT900 tiller. The problem is I see there is a fluid leak on the transmission (i.e. oil/grease) under the transmission.

    My questions are:

1.) There is not much leakage, how much can leak before doing major damage to the transmission?
2.) I don't see a grease plug which would allow me to add grease. Is there a way to add grease myself and not have to go through the expense of taking it to a shop?

    Thank you

Service & Maintenance Question posted July 10, 2016 by Darrell Craw
Bought a used Husqvarna FT900 last year. I believe it is only 1 year older - possibly 2013 or 14. The machine actually has 3 different fill tubes. There is a yellow in the front which I know is for oil. But there is also a white one above it and another yellow in the back. I can find nothing about these other 2 fill tubes. All the manuals (didn't get one when I got the machine) on line say that the transmission is sealed - but the white one sure looks like it should be for the transmission. I can see fluid in it. Have no idea what the yellow one in the back is for. Help?

I have had the input shaft bearing go out several times. The gear case is full of grease but it doesn't keep that bearing greased. What do I need to do?
