the next step up would be a 372XP.  by far the best saw that husqvarna has made since they brought this model out.

i have a 266SE and a 372XP.. and a ton of other pro saws.. if you are looking to spend money on an awesome saw, go with the 372 if you need a 70+CC saw.. if you just need a 66cc saw go with a 555 (59.8cc) (4.3hp) which is the same as your current 266XP.  its an autotune saw and great runner.   not nearly as expensive as a 372xp or 576xp...      its a pro saw, not an XP saw but a PRO saw....

i have one for sale on craigslist right now.

you can buy the tools on ebay... i would like to see the EPA prove anything.. and they are worried about chainsaws? when they have hundreds of millions of cars on the roads pumping crap in the air??

comical... i love the "canned answers" that husqvarna posts on this site... I am a hard core husqvarna guy but this site is a joke.. and the people that "run it" are nothing short of mouth breathers.

there is not necessarily a "correct bar" for it.  you have to ensure what your sprocket or rim is running. is it running a 3/8? i would assume it is.

if it is running a 3/8s, then you can run any bar you want that will take a D009 mount and the width is up to you.. .050, .058, or .063.

I would go to Oregon products website and use their product selector. get an oregon bar (all husqvarna bars are oregon bars).

wasting your time on this site looking for an answer will get you nowwhere..

if a shop cant get a chainsaw to run, NEVER go back there.  they need to be out of business if they truly cannot get it to run.

they might just be pulling it apart  and tell you "i dont know whats wrong with it" and then "buy one of our saws".

honestly, they are morons and should be treated as such. stay away from stupid people.

    adjustment Screw = 501 54 63-01

    Plastic retainer/washer = 501 45 27-02

    adjustment pawl = 501 45 41-01

There might be updated P/Ns for the plastic retainer/washer.  that came from a 1998 and a 2000 IPL for a 51/55

perfect example of another "corporate answer" that provides NO help to anyone. Good Job Husqvarna..

This website is a joke.. not trying to be mean.. but the word "Army" to means that there are a ton of folks that monitor this site to assist people.

Look at how many folks have NO ANSWERS at all to their questions.  This place is an utter joke 99% of the time.  You might get lucky if someone that does NOT work at husqvarna answers your emails.  and if you get an answer from a husqvarna employee, it is standard "corporate answer".

I was told the same thing when I called the 800 number.. "go to the website, they will answer all of your questions"... good one... they pawn you off to someone else, then to a site, then to anotehr person and the end user gets frustrated and throws the saw in the trash.

they should have 500 people monitoring this site at all times. this is supposed to be a website support page for a multi billion dollar company??????????? they sell everything from chainsaws to garbage "riding lawn mowers" to generators to tillers.

People out there IN THE WORLD really need help but this is NOT the place to get help at.

if you do not believe me, look at how many unasnwered posts there are from 3-4 years ago. NOONE at this site sees these posts from that long ago? noone answers them?

I am utterly disgusted with the support that husqvarna provides.. and I own 10 of their chainsaws from 1980-2003.. but they were a different company then as well.

i will NEVER buy anything new from them. EVER.    This website is PROOF that the company does NOT CARE about the consumer once the purchase is made.

" I have adjusted the high and low jets to no avail."

also, that is normally an indicator of an air leak somewhere.. the intake boot between the carb and the cylinder or a bottom end gasket or crank seal leaking..

a local shop should be able to do a leak test for you.. i would not spend anymore money on parts if you cannot get it to change when adjusting higha nd low speed screws.

you need to reorder.. its how it pulls the fuel into the carb..

buying a new carb is never the answer to fixing antyhing, unless it was catastrophically damaged for some reason...  now there is a caveat to it, unless husqvarna finally admits they made an error on using a particular carb on a saw.. like a WG2 on a 3120XP (garbage carb and the upgrade to a WG8 brought my saw back to life).  or the 359XP (2003) model walbro was garbage... woudl not idle to save it s life.. upgraded to a later year zama and its alive again.

why did you buy a new carb?

have you checked the compression of the saw?? if you do not have compression or good compression the saw will not run.   it will hit and miss but will NOT run....   take it to an autozone or something like that and have them check it for you (or local saw shop)...

If husqvarna wants a market for throw away chainsaws, that is why they make/sell poulans (husqvarna owns poulan)..... nothing against anyone that owns one..but they are priced right to throw them away.

I do not wnat to throw away my 480CD or my 444SE or my 61, or my 2101XP because I cannot buy a screw or gasket.

Karla, you are right about the knock off parts portion... I do have a meteor cylinder and piston in my 372XP because it was priced right.  They are making complete Husqvarna 362XP saws in china, even labeled as Husqvarna up to include the data plate saying it is real.   I would think that Husqvarna could fight that kind of baffoonery by simply making replacement parts for saws that millions / tens of millions of people already own. Saws that they can pass down to their children.

You are correct about making money part but eventually the raw materials and the ability to process those raw materials are going to dry up. I think at some point MFGs have to do what is right by the environment  as well(believe me, i am NOT a tree hugger) but people have to realize the amount of energy it takes to create a new chainsaw (for example) compared to making a gasket.

At the end of the day, the customer is much happier to pay someone to repair the saw for 50 bucks than to buy a new one for 700 bucks. Eventually that $700.00 saw will be "old" and hard to get parts for as well and then there is an endless cycle until the owner is dead and the kids get the saw and auction it off for 10 bucks.

Look at Dubai.. they knew that the oil is drying up so they use revenue they gain now to build islands and build houses on the islands so that they can continue to survive after the oil is gone.   Husqvarna is NOT of the same mindset apparently.

I have a 3120XP that I cant even get certain parts for and they still sell the same saw!!!!!!!!!!! how is that possible?

I also have lawnboy 2 cycle commercial mowers... 33 years old and still running strong.. why is that? Is there a Husqvarna lawnmower that is built today that is engineered to last 33 years??????????????? I would sadly have to guess NO...

Maybe someone here @ answerarmy.com can pass this up their food chain and see what the bosses say up top.. That is, if the bosses up there are not concerned with their yearly bonus's.

    do you have spark?

  • JP

I would not replace it. it is a perfectly good saw for what it is... i would say that you would be dissapointed by getting a "new saw" for the sake of getting a new saw.

    i have a 351, 372xp, 2101, 61, 480CD, 3120xp...

  • JP

I would look on ebay.. keep your eyes open and do a search to where it will email you when that part is found.

if you want to get rid of the saw, let me know...
