Service & Maintenance Question posted September 7, 2015 by John lambQuestion:Replacing drive cable on a Hu700F 961450006 push mower . I don't where to fasten the lower end of cable to drive gearbox/belt assembly. All i found when I took off belt cover was a frayed cable. Can't find any clue as to attach that end. It ran great, then all of a sudden it was really hard to start, and now if you start it, it runs really weakly and only for a few seconds and dies. I emptied and put in fresh new gas, but no change. Please tell me it's something simple so I don't have to return it, as I did like the power of this mower. Thanks!

HU800 AWD self propulsion no longer engaging. I've printed off pages 14 and 15 of the manual and see no means to adjust the tension on the belt, from what I can tell. I can see the belt pulling inward when the cable is pulling but obviously no longer tight enough to engage.
Is this a replace the belt only solution or is there an adjustment for tightening the belt I'm just overlooking? My husband followed the "assembly" directions and was ready to mow. He was able to mow for about 3 minutes and then it stopped. It will not start at all now. HELPPPPP!!!!

Just yesterday while mowing, it doesn't sound right; sounds bogged down. When you start the mower, the exhaust will puff black smoke. I opened the air filter and noticed oil on the filter and in the filter case. As we mulch, we occasionally clog the mower and it stalls. Thus, we turn the mower over on it's side with the air filter facing up.
What could be causing the poor performance? And how did oil find it's way to the air filter??
In addition, what is the part number for the stock air filter? I could not locate it in the Illustrated Parts List for the HU800HW.
Thanks! - Service & Maintenance Question posted November 20, 2010 by Darrel SmithQuestion:I purchased a new XT722FE lawn mower from Bomgaars on 6-19-2010. This mower has a keystart. Form day one I had trouble starting this mower. I talked to the manager of the Bomgaars store about this and he indicated a few things to check, such as too much oil in it. The amount of oil was what came with it from the dealer. When the mower did start it would smoke and backfire and run rough for a few minutes. Sometimes I would have to start it with the rope. Finally in late Sept he said he would send it in under warranty to get it fixed. When it came back they said they had to clean the automatic choke and there was a bill of $33.00. It still wouldn't start and this was observed by the store manager. He said he would send it back, which he did about three weeks ago. I checked with him yesterday and he said it still wasn't repaired and he had no idea what the problem was. I have no idea how the automatic choke could have gotten dirty in the length of time I had the mower, and that evidently was not the problem with the engine. Whatever the problem is it should be covered under the warranty. Please advise why it is taking so long and why there is so much problem with this mower. Darrel E. Smith

When I start the mower, it starts well and then it works well for a couple minutes. It then starts to die down slower and slower until it totally shuts off. I changed the spark and air filter, but the problem persists. I also cleaned the carburetor. What is the issue?

BOTH mowers have the same problem, they will start fine, cut fine, for about 2-3 minutes, then STALL out.. They were serviced once, ran fine for a couple months, now the same problem is back.. HELP.Photo:
