Service & Maintenance Question posted July 29, 2013 by Gregory Rinehart
    Question:
I have had a YTH24V48LS lawn tractor with blower-assisted bagger for approx. 3 yrs. During this time, I have replaced the blower belt about 6 times, which is quite an expense, at $75.00 a pop. After losing the 2nd belt this spring, I decided tom take it to a full-service dealer (in Weaver, AL) to get it fixed right. At this point, they have had it for 8 weeks (EIGHT WEEKS), and it still isn't fixed. Supposedly, they are in contact with Husqvqarna, trying to find out what is wrong. My personal feeling is that the whole bagger design is a case Engineering Malpractice. Nevertheless, I am without a mower and my lawn looks like a hay field. I feel like my mower is being held hostage and don't know where to turn. H-E-L-P !!!!

    Question:
when can you tell a drive belt needs replacement?
    Details:

48" deck, 23 HP YTH riding mower
Seems to be losing power in rear drive wheels - is this a transmission problem (no signs of anything unusual) or does the drive belt need replacement? -mower is five years old, normal use (about 1.25 acres of slight hill lawn) 8 months a year, drive belt never changed out - how can I tell if I ned a new drive belt?  Slipping Problem is about 3 months old- getting slightly worse

    Question:
The main drive belt on my YTH2348 tractor keeps slipping, eventually causing me to totally lose motion in reverse. I have replaced the belt three times, and also replaced one of the idler pulleys thinking that might help. Can you give me a cross-reference to some other belt that is about two (2) inches shorter than Husqvarna part number 532 13 09-69. A shorter belt is the only way I can see to fix this problem.

    Question:
I just (May 25, 2011) bought a YTH21K46 lawn tractor. I have used it only 4 times, have 3.5 hours on it and the thing squeaks! I think it is from the deck. It did not squeak the first two times I used the tractor, but it has the last two times and is getting worse! Where/ how do I lubricate the deck pivot points or is this a more serious problem? The owner manula does not discuss this. Help - the squeaks can be heard over the engine! Other than the squeak this is a great tractor!- Tom

BLADES & BOLTS FALLING OFF new Husqvarna GTH26V52LS Garden...escalated5100%
Service & Maintenance Question posted June 17, 2012 by D. Fain
    Question:
BLADES & BOLTS FALLING OFF new Husqvarna GTH26V52LS Garden Tractor. THREE times in 1st YEAR of ownership.
    Details:

On 6/2/11 I purchased a new Husqvarna GTH26V52LS Garden Tractor from STI Turf Care in Colfax, NC. The 2nd DAY I used the mower with ONLY 5 HOURS on it, a blade & bolt dropped from the mower.  Never heard anything & had mowed a while before saw blade & bolt on ground--together with bolt threads up from center of star hole of blade..  I mow a lot of grass & my lawn is certainly not a golf course, but was on smooth & level ground when this happened.  Dealer was not going to even come & pick up the TWO-DAY OLD MOWER WITH ONLY 5 HOURS ON IT or cover under warranty.  They insisted I must have hit something to shear off the bolt.  I did NOT. After planning to return the mower for full refund, dealer finally agreed to pick it up & make repairs.  I'm sure they put same blade & bolt back on machine.  Then in October 2011 (5-MONTH OLD MOWER WITH 88 HOURS ON IT), a blade fell off again, and I found the bolt within one foot of blade.  Perfectly smooth & level ground once again.  Dealer again flatly refused to pick up the mower & make repairs under warranty.  I misplaced the bolt in my garage & they priced new one for $10.00 (NO warranty since had to be my fault per dealer).  Went to LTD in King, NC & bought new factory bolt for under $6.00.  Local repairman I have always trusted to service three John Deere & Toro Wheelhorse (I have used on SAME grounds past 15 years--without EVER having a blade fall off ANY of them!) made the repair, sharpened all the blades, & serviced the machine.  I decided after their rip-off price for part that should be warrantied, overall poor service attitude & not standing behind their product that I would NOT deal with STI again. All went well until yesterday, 6/16/12, with 111.5 HOURS & just over ONE-YEAR old, blade fell off again on perfectly smooth & level ground.  As with other two times, no noise or any idea blade was off until I came around & saw it on ground.  This time I cannot find the bolt.  I am extremely aggravated & disappointed considering price I paid for this machine.  I am NOT abusing the tractor or subjecting it to anything or anywhere my two JD or Toro have gone before.  Cutting at 2.5" to 3" and NO obstacles. This problem is NOT from the operator.  Has to be mechanical defect. I have not marked the blades so have no idea if SAME blade each time. What do you suggest??  I received no help from dealership.  Is Husqvarna going to ignore this very dangerous problem until someone is hurt or killed by a loose blade??

Service & Maintenance Question posted June 18, 2012 by Bill Cariker
    Question:
Blades dropping off GTH26V52LS. I recently bought a GTH26V52LS garden tractor. Less than 12 hours on the engine and am having trouble with blades dropping off spindles due to 7/16" bolt vibrating off. This bolt right hand threaded and want to know if this has been common problem. Not just one blade but of the three blades, only the center one has not come off. What is the spec for the exact torque on this bolt - can't find this anywhere in parts manual. Am at a loss at what to do. Thanks.

    Question:
I have an LGT 2554 with only 24.5 hours. The mower clutch won't engage or when it does, the engine stalls. The blades all rotate freely. The original electric clutch failed in 11 hours and was replaced under warranty. It appears the same problem has occured again. Something isn't right, I'm just mowing a lawn.

Service & Maintenance Question posted August 8, 2011 by Sam Raymond
    Question:
Hi, I have a YTH2046 tractor/mower. The steering alignment has gone grossly out of whack and while I can still mow, the handling is very "squirrely".

I've got an engineering degree and have done all my own maintenance on the tractor. I've used it hard, and it's held up well, but I've broken and replaced several parts myself (blades, spindles, a fuel solenoid, etc.) I also do all my own preventive maintenance on the machine. I'm not scared of turning a wrench on my italian motorcyclce, so no fear about touching my lawn tractor.

That said, I can't for the life of me figure out how to adjust the alignment on my front wheels. There is a reference to having this done at a shop. I've got two issues with this. First is that I should be able to do this my *** self. Second is that my local shop can't do it for 2 weeks and that just seems too long.

Can you please provide me some detail on how to make alignment adjustments on the wheels? They're severely "toed-out" and I'd like to fix it myself.

    Thanks and best,
    Sam
